Meridian School of English: Terms and Conditions for Online English Programs

It's important that you read and understand the information below.

  1. WORDS WE USE IN THIS DOCUMENT
    1. Meridian School of English refers to Tellus Education Group Ltd ("the Company" or "Meridian").
    2. Student refers to the individual studying with Meridian.
    3. Promoter or agent refers to individuals or organizations that assist students in arranging their study programs.
    4. Guardian refers to the person legally responsible for a minor.
    5. ELT stands for English Language Teaching.
    6. Days means calendar days unless otherwise specified.
  2. IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES FOR STUDENTS
    1. Respect the privacy of others.
    2. Communicate in English as much as possible.
    3. Provide feedback and contact Meridian staff for assistance or concerns.
  3. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
    1. These terms, along with registration forms, form a legal agreement between the Guardian and Meridian.
    2. Meridian reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will apply to all bookings and be communicated via our website or email.
    3. These terms become binding once the registration is submitted or payment is received by Meridian.
  4. APPLYING
    1. A Guardian must complete the application process and pay in full for the course.
  5. SERVICES
    1. Meridian reserves the right to modify services (e.g., courses, curriculum, or dates) if necessary or due to insufficient student numbers. Notification of changes will be provided.
  6. CONTRACT
    1. By registering, the Guardian or agent agrees to Meridian's terms unless a separate written agreement exists.
  7. BOOKINGS AND REGISTRATION
    1. Meridian welcomes students regardless of nationality, race, or gender.
    2. Students must be physically and mentally able to participate in group sessions and use required devices.
    3. Once registered and payment is received, an invoice with booking details will be issued.
    4. Meridian may refuse registrations that do not meet requirements, with refunds as outlined in Section 12.
    5. The accuracy of application information is the responsibility of the Guardian. Providing false information may result in course denial and Section 12 applies.
  8. PAYMENTS
    1. Fees and charges are confirmed in writing during booking and at checkout.
    2. Full payment must be made in advance.
    3. Transaction fees are the responsibility of the payer.
    4. Subscription payments are deducted monthly; see Section 12 for cancellations.
  9. PROMOTIONS, VOUCHERS, AND COUPONS
    1. Only one discount or coupon can be used per booking.
    2. Promotions must be applied to course fees and are non-transferable.
    3. Meridian may cancel promotions without notice.
  10. REFERRALS
    1. Existing customers can refer others.
    2. The referee must not have been a customer in the last 12 weeks.
    3. Referral credits are applied to course fees at the next payment renewal.
    4. Referral credits are non-transferable and expire when the course ends.
  11. TRIALS
    1. Trials are offered at Meridian's discretion and are only available for new customers or product releases.
  12. CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS, AND PACKAGE/SUBSCRIPTION FREEZING (PP/SF)
    1. Packaged and Subscription Courses Before Start Date:
      1. No refunds are issued for cancellations within seven days of the start date.
      2. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to support@meridianenglish.com
      3. Refunds are processed to the original payment account.
      4. No refunds for missed or absent days; these days are not added to the course.
    2. Subscription Courses After Start Date:
      1. Cancellations require seven days' notice before the next payment date.
      2. Refunds are only issued if Meridian is unable to deliver a class.
      3. If a class is deferred for more than 15 days, a full refund for that class is provided.
    3. Packaged Courses After Start Date:
      1. Classes cancelled by Meridian are rescheduled.
      2. Deferrals exceeding 15 days qualify for a full refund.
      3. Cancellations after four weeks from the start date receive a refund of remaining fees, minus an 8% finance charge.
    4. Package Pausing/Subscription Freezing (PP/SF):
      1. Requests must be submitted in writing at least seven days in advance.
      2. Approval is granted on a case-by-case basis (e.g., health, significant personal commitments) and is not guaranteed.
      3. The original class place is not reserved during a pause.
      4. Minimum duration for PP/SF is one week; maximum is six months. No refunds are issued for paused periods.
  13. CHANGES TO BOOKINGS
    1. To request a change (start date, duration, or type), you must submit a formal request in writing with a copy of your original invoice.
    2. Requests are subject to Meridian's discretion and may be rejected if they compromise class sizes or availability.
    3. Exceptional circumstances (e.g., bereavement, certified illness) will be reviewed upon provision of official documentation (e.g., a doctor's certificate).
  14. AGE REQUIREMENTS
    1. Minimum and maximum ages vary by course and are provided during booking.
  15. HOLIDAYS
    1. No classes are held on national or Meridian school holidays as detailed on www.meridianenglish.com.
  16. STUDENT LEAVE, ABSENT, AND SICKNESS
    1. Inform Meridian of planned absences. Absent days are non-refundable.
    2. Long-term sickness exceeding two weeks requires a doctor's note for credit consideration.
  17. ACCESS TO CLASS RECORDINGS
    1. Recorded classes are available for review for 30 days after the course ends. Access is for educational review only.
  18. DISCIPLINE
    1. Serious misconduct, abusive behaviour, or offense caused to staff/students may result in removal from the program without a refund.
  19. COMPLAINTS
    1. Complaints must follow the procedure on our website and be submitted within 10 days of the issue to info@meridianenglish.com.
  20. PRIVACY POLICY
    1. Personal data is used only for Meridian's purposes and will not be shared without consent unless required by law.
  21. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
    1. Statutory Rights: Nothing in these terms seeks to exclude or limit Meridian's liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by English Law.
    2. Limit of Compensation: Subject to clause 21.1, Meridian's total liability for any loss arising under or in connection with this agreement shall be limited to the total fees paid by the Student for the specific course in question.
    3. Excluded Losses: Meridian shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential losses, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or costs incurred by the Student.
  22. EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL (FORCE MAJOR)
    1. Definition: Meridian will not be liable for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any obligations caused by an "Event Outside Our Control." This includes (but is not limited to) industrial action, civil commotion, fire, flood, extreme weather, pandemics, or failure of public or private telecommunications networks (including internet outages).
    2. Procedure: In such events, obligations will be suspended for the duration of the event. We will take reasonable steps to find a solution (such as providing recorded lessons) but are not required to provide a refund if an alternative is offered.
  23. CONSUMER RIGHTS AND JURISDICTION
    1. These terms are governed by UK laws. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
