Courses for children 10–13 years old

Our early-secondary courses bring age-appropriate content and topics designed to stimulate students’ interests and encourage participation.

 

These courses focus on developing fluency and accuracy in speaking, whilst also developing receptive (reading and listening) skills, using a communicative approach to language learning.

Class allocation takes both the student’s age and level of English into account. Test your child’s level of English now.

Schedule

Courses start every Monday. You have to book a course at least 2 weeks before your preferred course starting date. Each course booking is calculated as a fixed number of sessions. At the booking stage you will see your official course start and finish dates that take any public holidays or school closures in to account.
Below we present sample class times. Time changes happen according to UK Daylight saving system. We’ll notify you in advance if it affects your child’s class time. (Class time change will only happen in some countries).

Calendar

If your course includes a UK public holiday there is no lesson on that day. You will be notified in advance. Summer Holidays take place in August. Check out our holiday calendar below.

What will your child learn at thE levelS?

• Can understand and use familiar everyday
expressions and very basic phrases.

 

• Can introduce him/herself and others and can
ask and answer questions about personal details
such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows
and things he/she has.

 

• Can interact in a simple way provided the other
person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to
help.

• Can understand sentences and frequently used
expressions related to areas of most immediate
relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family
information, shopping, local geography,
employment).

 

• Can communicate in simple and routine tasks
requiring a simple and direct exchange of
information on familiar and routine matters.

 

• Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her
background, immediate environment and
matters in areas of immediate need.

• Can understand the main points of clear standard
input on familiar matters regularly encountered
in work, school, leisure, etc.

 

• Can deal with most situations likely to arise
whilst travelling in an area where the language is
spoken. Can produce simple connected text on
topics which are familiar or of personal interest.

 

• Can describe experiences and events, dreams,
hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and
explanations for opinions and plans.
