Our Social and Cultural Programmes

For further immersion in the language, culture, and society, a wide range of social and cultural activities are organised by our schools [2], activities vary weekly. The programmes are designed to provide participants with ample opportunity to learn and use English and be a part of a comprehensive learning experience. The overall aim of the programme is to instil the linguistic, practical, and cultural aspects of the English language give students the opportunity to meet other participants and experience other aspects of the British way of life. Events are timetabled throughout the year and occur at evenings and weekends.

English course students can join the social and leisure activities programmes organised by the schools, which include excursions, sports activities, theatre visits, cinema, live music, discos etc. All our applicants get guidance and support from us from the moment they make their first enquiry about the courses until the completion of their studies.

Plymouth

Beyond the our own facilities students have access to the extensive resources offered by the neighbouring university, city library, museum, art gallery and a sports centre.

When students need relaxation of a different kind, the 'Drake Circus' shopping mall is the gateway to pavement cafe's, bars and restaurants. That, coupled with city centre street entertainers, creates a distinctive continental atmosphere.

As a holiday resort Plymouth offers all the usual amenities and many other attractions [3] such as the National Marine Aquarium, Theatre Royal, Plymouth Pavilions, a Warner Village entertainment complex (cinema, bowling, restaurants, bars and nightclubs) and many night spots. All these co-exist in this modern cosmopolitan city within which beats the heart of a working port, rich in maritime history.

Plymouth is able to offer ready access to many coastal and water based activities in addition to the beautiful landscape and countryside of Dartmoor National Park and the rest of Devon and Cornwall.

The historic city of Plymouth is situated on the picturesque south-west coast of Devon and is the home of the Mayflower Steps (the 'Pilgrim Fathers' last stop in the Old World) and Plymouth Hoe famed for its lighthouse, open air swimming pool and parade ground which now hosts various festivals.

Portsmouth

Portsmouth is a vibrant, lively city with numerous things to see and do. It is steeped in rich history and is renowned as one of the most famous naval ports in England. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, beaches and historical monuments, Portsmouth is a legacy to both the old and the new. Within the city centre and along the esplanade, all manner of cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs can be found. Large shopping complexes house all of the latest fashions and technology, and there is a surplus of cinemas, bowling alleys, pool halls and sports centres.

It is located along the south coast of England, only a boat ride from the Isle of Wight, or even Spain and France. It is only ninety minutes by train to London, and much less than that to cultural and historical locations such as Chichester, Southampton, Winchester or Brighton.
