Welcome
  to Portsmouth

Portsmouth is located mainly on Portsea Island; the United Kingdom's only island city. As a result the Portsmouth ferry port is one of the busiest in the UK carrying over 2 million passengers every year. It is home to the Royal Navy, the University of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Football Club; which was founded in 1898. Portsmouth has been used in a number of films and television shows and was also home to Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and now to Meridian School of English!
