2 to 4 week Programme in Plymouth

Description

We offer groups of junior students aged between 12 and 17 years an extensive range of facilities in a wonderful setting to enjoy their learning and activities in a safe and professionally managed fun environment.

Destination

The City of Plymouth is a historic maritime city close to the fantastic moorland countryside and coastal landscapes of Devon and Cornwall. Each Saturday the students will enjoy an all day cultural excursion and also an additional afternoon trip away from the school during the week.

Dates: July and August - duration: 2 and 4 weeks for 15 hours per week at all levels (A2 - C1)

Tests: a placement test will take place to ensure correct class allocation and regular monitoring

Class sizes: maximum 15 students per class

Certificates: Meridian English Certificate is awarded at the end of the course

Staff

All our teachers are experienced and qualified. Ratio of staff to students is 1 member of staff to 15 students. The staff are committed to providing the best possible learning environment for the students and an experience to remember for life.

Facilities

IT suites, Assembly Hall with Audio/lighting equipment for Discos / Bingo / Presentations / Karaoke.

Sports Hall, Gymnasium, Fitness Room, 25 metre Indoor Pool, all weather and outdoor pitches for sports. The sports we offer include Football, Golf, Handball, Netball, Tennis, Cricket, Squash, Rounders etc. Students should bring correct sports clothes, swimming costumes, sports shoes (WHITE soled shoes to play Squash). Activity programmes may be weather dependent and subject to change at school management discretion.

Examples of Excursions and Activities

Visits to Exeter and the Cathedral, Tintagel Castle, The Dartmoor National Park, Torquay, Mount Edgecumbe, Wembury Beach, Cawsands, the National Marine Aquarium and the Museum.

Local attractions e.g. Air Show, Fire Works, Saltram House Music Festival, Woodland’s Experience, Surfing, Beach BBQ’s

Accommodation

The on site Full Board Accommodation allows for 2-3 students to share large rooms with plenty of shared bathrooms and shower rooms available. Bedding is changed weekly and students need to bring their own towels (also for swimming).

Accompanying Teachers can be accommodated in single rooms as required.

Catering

Breakfast, Lunch and Evening Meals are professionally catered for with Menu choices and packed lunches.

Extras:

A self-catering overnight adventure in traditional cottages with bunk beds within the Dartmoor National Park (students must bring their own sleeping bags), Indoor Climbing Wall, Additional indoor swimming.

Transfers:

We can arrange transfers by bus or train from main airports & stations for Groups. Please ask for a quote.

Plese Note

  • These summer courses are subject to availability and we advise bookings to be confirmed prior to the end of January 2011
  • For Homestay students, the host families will drop off and collect the students daily
