General English Course for Adults
Description:
For 16 years of age and over, this is a general English course for adult students who want to improve their English for work purposes, studies (when combined with an examination course) or travel. It is also suitable for those who have settled in the UK. Morning classes are based on Grammar and Skills based (speaking, listening, reading and writing), while the optional afternoon classes (for those opting for more than 15 hours of English a week) consist of topic-based tutorials. The focus is on communicating in English and a lot of time is spent assisting students in improving their communication skills, as well as introducing them to British culture.
This course can be combined with any of our afternoon options or Examination Courses.
- Levels: Beginner (A1) to Proficiency (C2). Please note that students preparing for examination courses are required to have an English level of at least Pre-Intermediate, depending on the duration and nature of the course. Students who attend an examination course, are required to enrol for at least one month
- Homework: Assigned daily
- Tests: Placement Test and Progress Tests to ensure allocation to the right class
- Progress: Regular monitoring to ensure students’ performance
- Course material: Up-to-date course materials are used for all our courses, especially Oxford and Cambridge ELT material. (A refundable deposit on materials may apply)
- Class size: Limited to only 12 students (average class size is eight) so that each student will receive enough individual attention
- Certificates: A Certificate from Meridian is awarded at the end of the course
- Students can also study towards Cambridge, IELTS or Trinity
- Course dates: Year-round courses from 1 to 50 weeks in duration, start every Monday (except on a Bank Holiday), or as per agreement
